Head, Risk & Sustainability Management | Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF)

 

Kwadwo is a seasoned finance and sustainability professional with a distinguished career spanning infrastructure investment, risk management, and sustainable finance. As the Head of Risk and Sustainability Management at the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF)—Ghana’s sovereign wealth fund - he plays a critical role in shaping the country’s sustainable infrastructure agenda. He has played a key role in mobilizing capital Development Finance Institutions, accessing green and sustainable finance, and developing a pipeline of bankable climate-friendly projects aligned with Ghana’s low-carbon development pathway and national socio-economic goals.

With over two decades of experience across the finance, infrastructure, and climate sectors, Kwadwo has been instrumental in forging strategic partnerships and securing technical assistance from leading international institutions, including the World Bank, Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), Foreign Commonwealth Development Office under the Green Cities & Infrastructure Programme (GCIP) etc

Prior to his role at GIIF, Kwadwo spent 15 years in the banking sector, where he honed his expertise in project finance, credit risk assessment (SME and corporate), and sustainable finance across multiple industries. His last position in the banking industry was Head of Credit Appraisal & Environmental and Social Risk Manager at Fidelity Bank Ghana Limited, one of the country’s leading indigenous banks.

His career also includes roles at Ghana’s Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and the Ghana Revenue Authority, where he gained valuable experience in tax audit and records management.

Kwadwo is a Chartered Environmentalist with the Society for the Environment, UK, a Certified Risk Analyst, and a Certified Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), credentialed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Boston, USA.

He holds:

→ An MA in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana

→ An International Executive MBA in Banking & Finance from the Paris Graduate School of Management

→ A Social Science Education degree from the University of Cape Coast

With his deep expertise in risk management, infrastructure finance, and sustainability, Kwadwo continues to be a driving force in Ghana’s transition towards sustainable and climate-resilient development.
